What? International ReUseIt Week
When? October 18th - 24th, 2009
Where? All Around the World!
Who? Any ecycling group can be involved - ANY group or individual who cares about the environment.
Why? To promote ecycling participation and environmental awareness
How? That is an awesome question and the how is only limited to your creativity!! !! Let us explain...
The ReUseIt Network is proud to announce the first annual International ReUseIt Week, October 18 - 24, 2009. This celebration
will be announced to all holiday websites around the world.
Prior to that week, we encourage ecycling group moderators to send out local press releases letting the community know that
you will be celebrating the week locally, joining others from all around the world!
We encourage folks to utilize that week as a time to complete a project, be it simple or be it big.
A FreeBee give away.
A ReUseIt contest within your group for creative reuse ideas.
A park clean-up sponsored by the local ReUseIt chapter.
What you can do is only as limited as your creativity.
This is an awesome opportunity to create further "community" within your group. Create project teams - do NOT take it all on
yourself. Let the members make a contribution and celebrate ReUseIt Week.
We will recognize participating groups in a variety of ways.
Each day, we will award a group with "Most Creative ReUseIt ReUse Idea". Each day, we will award a group with "Recognition Award
- ReUseIt Worldwide Event".
So in the end there will be 7 creative reuse winners and 7 project winners. There might even be some great prizes sent to your
group but we want to keep what those are a surprise!!
Some of you might be wondering why we chose October 18th - 24th....well, there are great reasons.
In Canada those dates happen to coincide with Waste Reduction Week.
Not the exact same dates, but very close. Make sure to sign up at the WRW website, to help promote your event.
This gives double the reasons to be contacting the Press!! Double the chance of getting coverage!!
In the USA, the dates happen to coincide with
National Make a Difference Day - October 24th.
Make sure to register your project at the website to help promote your event. This gives you DOUBLE the reasons to be
contacting the Press!! Double the chance of getting coverage!!
In Australia, October 18th - 24th is National Water Week
- so your groups could look at cleaning up river banks. Double the exposure opportunity with the press!!
